Steps
  1. Log in to Alterna Bank online banking at alternabank.ca.
  2. Select 'Accounts' in the bottom navigation to open a list of your accounts.
  3. Select the account you want to export from the list.
  4. Click 'Transactions' to view your recent transaction history.
  5. Use the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner to filter by date range.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Export' to download your transaction history.
  7. Select CSV as the export format and save the file.
Tips
  • By default, the last 30 days of transactions are displayed.
  • Alterna also supports export to Quicken, Excel, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 50, and Microsoft Money formats.
Steps
  1. Log in to your American Express account at americanexpress.com/ca.
  2. Click on 'Statements & Activity' in the top navigation.
  3. Select the account you want to download.
  4. Click 'Download Your Transactions' (or look for the download icon).
  5. Choose your date range.
  6. Select Excel (.xls) or PDF as the format.
  7. Click Download and save the file.
  8. Upload the .xls or .pdf file to PennySlice.
Tips
  • Amex Canada offers Excel (.xls) and PDF downloads — both are supported.
  • After importing, use Swap +/− if expenses show as positive amounts.
  • The swap is remembered for future Amex XLS imports.
Steps
  1. Log in to ATB Personal at atb.com.
  2. From the Overview screen, click 'More' in the primary navigation.
  3. From the More menu, click 'Account services'.
  4. On the Account services screen, click the 'Download transactions' tab.
  5. Select the ATB account you want to download transactions from.
  6. Select the date range over which you want to view the transaction history.
  7. Select the file type (CSV, Quicken, or QuickBooks).
  8. Click 'Download' and save the file.
Tips
  • ATB supports CSV, Quicken (QFX), and QuickBooks (QBO) formats.
  • For business accounts, use ATB Online Business and click the 'Download Transactions' tab.

  1. Log in to BMO Online Banking at bmo.com.
  2. Click on the account you want to download from.
  3. On the account page, click the 'Download' button.
  4. Choose your date range.
  5. Select CSV as the file format.
  6. Click Download and save the file.
Tips
  • BMO keeps about 13 months of online transaction history.
Steps
  1. Note: Canadian Western Bank was acquired by National Bank of Canada on February 3, 2025. Your accounts may have been migrated to National Bank's online banking.
  2. If still using CWBdirect, log in to CWBdirect Online Banking at cwbank.com.
  3. Select the account you want to view.
  4. Navigate to your transaction history.
  5. Look for the 'Export' or 'Download' option.
  6. Select CSV as the export format and save the file.
  7. If your account has been migrated, log in to National Bank online banking at nbc.ca and follow the National Bank download instructions.
Tips
  • CWB was acquired by National Bank of Canada in February 2025 — if you cannot access CWBdirect, your account has likely been migrated.
  • Contact National Bank support at 1-888-483-5628 if you need help locating your migrated account.

  1. Log in to CIBC Online Banking at cibc.com.
  2. On the home page, click 'Download transactions' in the left-hand navigation panel.
  3. Select the account you want to download from (chequing, savings, or credit card).
  4. Choose your date range using the date pickers.
  5. Select CSV as the file format (or QFX/OFX if you prefer).
  6. Click Download and save the file.
Tips
  • CIBC allows up to 18 months of transaction history online.
  • The download option is on the left panel of the home page — you don't need to open the account first.

  • EQ Bank is digital-only, so CSV export is well-supported.

  1. Log in to HSBC Online Banking at us.hsbc.com (US) or hsbc.ca (Canada).
  2. Select the account you want to export.
  3. Go to the 'Transactions' section (not Statements).
  4. Click the 'Download' or 'Export' button.
  5. Choose your date range.
  6. Select CSV as the file format.
  7. Click 'Download' and save the file.
Tips
  • CSV downloads must be done from Transactions — the Statements section only provides PDFs.
  • HSBC Canada was acquired by RBC in March 2024 — if your account was HSBC Canada, see the 'HSBC Canada' guide.
Steps
  1. HSBC Canada no longer exists. It was acquired by RBC Royal Bank on March 28, 2024.
  2. All HSBC Canada accounts have been migrated to RBC Royal Bank.
  3. Log in to RBC Online Banking at rbcroyalbank.com using your new RBC credentials.
  4. Click on the account you want to download from.
  5. Click 'Filter' to open the date range options.
  6. Select your date range and click 'Apply'.
  7. Click the 'Download' button and choose CSV as the format.
  8. Click 'Download' and save the file.
Tips
  • HSBC Canada was fully acquired by RBC on March 28, 2024 — all customer accounts were migrated.
  • If you haven't set up RBC online banking yet, visit an RBC branch with your HSBC Canada details.
Steps
  1. Log in to LBCDirect online banking at laurentianbank.ca.
  2. Navigate to your account overview.
  3. Click on the account you want to download transactions for.
  4. Your transaction history for the last 10 days will display by default.
  5. Click the 'Search' option to view transactions by a specific date range.
  6. Set your desired start and end dates.
  7. Click the 'Show options' icon (gear/settings icon).
  8. Select 'Download to CSV' to export your transactions.
Tips
  • The 'Show options' icon also lets you print or download to PDF.
  • For LBC Digital accounts, you can also access statements under your profile.
Steps
  1. Log in to Manulife Bank online banking at manulifebank.ca.
  2. Select the account you want to download transactions from.
  3. Click on the 'Transactions' or 'Account Activity' tab.
  4. Set your desired date range using the date filters.
  5. Look for the 'Download' or 'Export' button.
  6. Select CSV or Excel as the download format.
  7. Click 'Download' and save the file.
Tips
  • As of February 2026, QFX format is no longer available for Manulife credit cards — use CSV or Excel instead.

  2. Select your account.
  3. Go to 'Transaction History'.

Steps
  1. Motusbank was shut down on November 1, 2025. It is no longer operational.
  2. Deposit accounts and some lending products were moved to Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union.
  3. Most Ontario mortgages, lines of credit, and HELOCs were moved to Meridian Credit Union as of May 1, 2025.
  4. To download your transactions, log in to your new institution's online banking (Coast Capital or Meridian).
  5. Follow the respective bank's transaction download steps.
Tips
  • Motusbank (owned by Meridian Credit Union) was shut down in November 2025.
  • Contact Coast Capital Savings (1-888-517-7000) or Meridian Credit Union (1-866-592-2226) if you need help locating your migrated account.

  1. Log in to National Bank Online at nbc.ca.
  2. Select the account you want to export.
  3. Navigate to 'Transaction History'.
  4. Choose the date range.
  5. Click 'Download' or the export icon.
  6. Select CSV format.
  7. Save the file.

  • National Bank keeps about 12 months of online history.
Steps
  1. Open a web browser and go to member.neofinancial.com (CSV export is not available in the mobile app).
  2. Log in with your Neo Financial credentials.
  3. Click on 'Credit' or 'Money' from the left-side menu.
  4. Select the account you want to export.
  5. Scroll down and click 'Download CSV'.
  6. Use the filters to narrow your transaction date range if needed.
  7. Click 'Download' and save the CSV file.
Tips
  • CSV export is only available on the Neo website — not in the mobile app.
  • You can download up to 2,000 transactions per CSV file. Use date filters to download in smaller batches if you have more.
  • Works for both Neo credit card and Money accounts.
Steps
  1. Log in to Oaken Digital at digitalbanking.oaken.com.
  2. Click 'Accounts' in the main navigation.
  3. Select the Savings Account you want to download transactions for.
  4. Click the 'Transactions' tab.
  5. Tap the filter icon and select a date range on the calendar (max 1 year).
  6. Click 'Apply' to filter your transactions.
  7. Click the 'Share' or 'Download' icon.
  8. Choose CSV as the file format and save the file.
Tips
  • Date range searches cannot be greater than 1 year.
  • Oaken Digital only allows searches back to January 1, 2021.
Steps
  1. Log in to PayPal at paypal.com.
  2. Click 'Activity' in the top navigation.
  3. Click 'Statements' in the sub-navigation, then select 'Activity download'.
  4. Select the 'Transaction type' (e.g. Balance affecting).
  5. Choose a date range (up to 12 months at a time).
  6. In the 'File type' dropdown, select 'CSV'.
  7. Click 'Create Report' or 'Download' and save the file.
Tips
  • PayPal keeps up to 7 years of history, but you can only export 12 months at a time.
  • CSV exports can contain up to 50,000 records.

  1. Log in to PC Financial online banking at pcfinancial.ca.
  2. Click on 'Transactions' in the main navigation.
  3. Click the 'Export CSV' button.
  4. The file will download containing all available transactions (up to ~12 months).
  5. Save the CSV file to your computer.
Tips
  • PC Financial exports all available transactions at once — there is no date range picker.
  • Typically up to 12 months of transaction history is available.

  1. Log in to your Questrade account at questrade.com.
  2. Click 'Reports' in the top navigation bar.
  3. Click 'Go to transaction history'.
  4. Select your desired date range using the date pickers.
  5. Click 'Export to Excel' to download your transactions as a spreadsheet.
  6. Save the file to your computer.
Tips
  • You can also access transaction history via Menu > Reports > Account activity.
  • Trade confirmations and reports can be exported as CSV or PDF.

  • RBC keeps up to 13 months of history for most accounts.

  • Rogers Bank supports both CSV and OFX export formats.

  • Scotiabank keeps up to 13 months of history online.
  • For credit cards, look under 'Statements' for downloadable transaction data.

  2. On the home page, click 'Download transactions' in the left-hand navigation panel.
  3. Select the account you want to download from.
  4. Choose your date range using the date pickers.

Tips
  • Simplii is a CIBC subsidiary — the download flow is the same as CIBC.
  • Up to 18 months of online history available.

  1. Log in to Tangerine Online Banking at tangerine.ca.
  2. Click on the account you want to download.
  3. Go to 'Transaction History' or 'Activity'.
  4. Set the date range you want.
  5. Click the 'Download' link at the top of the transaction list.

Tips
  • Tangerine is a Scotiabank subsidiary — CSV format is similar.
  • Up to 7 years of history available for some account types.

  1. Log in to TD EasyWeb at easyweb.td.com.
  2. Click on the account you want to export.

  4. Use the date range filter to select the period you want.
  5. Click the 'Download' link — it's usually at the top-right of the transaction list.

Tips
  • TD keeps up to 18 months of transaction history online.
  • If you have a TD credit card, the download option is under 'Account Activity'.
  • TD CSV files use a comma separator with columns: Date, Description, Debit, Credit, Balance.

  • Wealthsimple may require you to download from the web app rather than mobile.
  • Check Settings > Documents > Tax documents for annual summaries.

  1. Log in to your Wise account at wise.com.
  2. Click 'Transactions' in the left-hand panel.
  3. Click 'Filter' to open the filter pane.
  4. Select your date range.
  5. Check the currency checkbox for the currency you want to download (e.g. CAD, USD, GBP).
  6. Important: Select only one currency at a time — Wise allows multiple selection, but PennySlice works with one currency per account.
  7. Click Apply to filter.
  8. Click the 'Download' button.
  9. Select CSV and click Download.
Tips
  • Wise shows all currencies under one Personal account — each currency is effectively a separate account.
  • Download each currency separately and import into the matching PennySlice account (e.g. 'Wise CAD', 'Wise USD').
  • Create a separate account in PennySlice for each Wise currency you use.

  • Ally is fully digital, so CSV exports are well-supported with a clean format.
Steps
  1. Log in to American Express at americanexpress.com.
  2. Click on the card you want to download.
  3. Go to 'Statements & Activity'.
  4. Set the date range using the dropdown or calendar.
  5. Click 'Download your Transactions' (link at the bottom of the activity list).
  6. Select CSV format.
  7. Click Download and save.
Tips
  • Amex allows downloading up to 7 years of statements.
  • Amex CSV format: Date, Description, Amount (negative = charge, positive = credit).

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Apple Card.
  3. Tap Card Balance and scroll down to find Statements.
  4. Select the statement month you want to export.
  5. Tap Export Transactions.
  6. Select CSV (or OFX/QFX/QBO).
  7. Tap the Share icon to AirDrop, email, or Save to Files.
Tips
  • You can only export completed monthly statements — current unbilled transactions cannot be exported.

  • Bank of America keeps up to 7 years of statements.
  • Look for the download option in the 'Statements & Documents' section if not on the activity page.

Tips
  • Betterment does not offer native CSV export — only PDF statements.

  3. Click 'Download' above and to the right of the Transactions table.
  4. Select a date range using the date pickers.
  5. In the 'Download format' dropdown, select 'Spreadsheet (CSV format)'.

  • BMO also supports Quicken (QFX) and QuickBooks (QBO) export formats.
  • BMO Harris US uses the same online banking portal as BMO Canada (bmo.com).

  • Chase allows up to 7 years of history for credit cards, 2 years for checking.
  • Chase credit card CSV has: Transaction Date, Post Date, Description, Category, Type, Amount.

  • Fifth Third Bank primarily provides PDF statement downloads — there is no native CSV export.

  1. Log in to KeyBank Online Banking at key.com.
  2. Select the account you want to export.
  3. Navigate to the 'Transaction History' page.

  • CSV export is limited to 90 days of transactions.
